- Members of fraternities and sororities are inclined to drink more alcohol than students who do not participate in the Greek system.
- According to the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse, it was determined that college students were more likely to intervene in a drunk-driving situation if they knew and liked the driver, but only if the driver was evaluated to be dangerous and they felt that they would be able to help. Students were less likely to intervene when they were drunk themselves, or when they were afraid of how their intervention would affect their relationship with their peers.
- Physical changes that are commonly associated with the aging process can make older people feel "high" even after drinking small amounts of alcohol. So even if there is no medical reason to avoid alcohol, older men and women should consider limiting themselves to one to two drinks per day.
- Almost 2,000 people under 21 years of age die each year in car crashes in which underage drinking is involved. Alcohol is involved in nearly half of all violent deaths involving teens.
