- Excessive alcohol consumption in college not only interferes with the successful transition to campus life, but can lead to unhealthy long-term drinking patterns.
- According to a current report from the U.S. Task Force on Community Preventive Services, there is little evidence that designated programs actually reduce the rate of drunk driving and alcohol-related crashes, as few designated drivers actually completely abstain from drinking. The report concluded that in a great many instances, the least-intoxicated person is chosen to be the driver, which defeats the purpose of the program.
