- An estimated 700,000 students each year are assaulted by other students who have been drinking alcohol.
- Today, there are promising types of counseling that teach alcoholics to identify situations and feelings that trigger the urge to drink and to find new ways to cope that do not include alcohol use. These treatments are often provided on an outpatient basis.
- According to recent government studies in the U.S. alcohol is more addictive that marijuana; the study indicates that 10-12% of people who regularly drink alcohol will become dependent but only 9% of the people that smoke marijuana on a regular basis will become addicted.
