Adolescents who consume alcohol and binge-drinking adolescents are five times more likely than non-drinkers to say that they have driven under the influence of alcohol in the past year.
Alcohol also may interfere with normal sperm structure and movement by blocking the metabolism of vitamin A, which is essential for sperm development.
Excessive alcohol use has immediate effects that increase the risk of many harmful health conditions. A study in Midwestern states found that 46% of ninth graders who reported drinking alcohol in the previous month said they obtained the alcohol from a person aged 21 or older.
